Frequently Asked Questions

Today's maxim does not change

By design, the app shows the same maxim throughout a single calendar day. The next maxim appears automatically the following day.

The History tab is empty

History records the maxim of each day you open the app, from your first launch onward. Days on which you did not open the app do not appear.

My favorites are gone

Favorites are stored locally on your device. They are lost if you reinstall the app or reset your device. We do not currently offer a backup feature.

How do I switch the language?

The app follows your device's system language. Change your device language in system settings, and the app will switch to it if it is one of the 74 supported languages (on Android 13 and later you can also choose the app's language in the per-app language settings). Unsupported languages fall back to English.

How do I find a specific maxim?

Open the menu at the top right of the Home screen and choose Search, or tap the magnifier at the top right of the Maxims screen. You can search by text, category name, your own tags, or maxim number (e.g. 12). Search runs entirely on your device and works offline; what you type is never sent anywhere.

Can I disable the ads?

There is no ad-free option in the current version. The app is provided free of charge, supported by a Google AdMob banner ad at the bottom of the screen and an occasional app-open ad.

How do I change the personalized ads setting?

Use "Ad settings" in Settings. On Android, you also choose on first launch. On iOS, the tracking-permission dialog appears on first launch, and you can change "Ad settings" after answering it. On iOS, personalized ads are shown only when both tracking and "Ad settings" are allowed.
